Happy National Chocolate Cake Day!

Well the excitement of the holidays is over and its back to the grind of a new year.  But while I am busy  digging up receipts and figuring for my taxes, I have a another great day to look forward to.

That’s right, its almost time for National Chocolate Cake Day! January 27th, a day to celebrate the notion of baking and eating chocolate cake.  I really can’t for the life of me think of a better day, except maybe for Ground Hog’s Day.

When Miller and I first befriended each other more than 20 years ago it was our mutual love of baking that was a common interest.   Before we juggled and made people laugh for a living we  collaborated in the kitchen making pies and cookies.  It helped us learn to work together and no doubt has carried over to today contributing to the quality of our performances.

To get you in the mood for National Chocolate Cake Day, here is a link to an episode of Baking with Julia Childs on PBS.

Enjoy!

An exciting time

It is an exciting time for Miller and Mike.

When Miller and I first returned to Wisconsin from the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus we were able to collaborate easily because we lived close to each other.  Over the years we have both moved around quite a bit.  Now is the first time since 2006 that both Miller and I live close to each other and are able to meet one on one regularly to continue to create Quality Family Entertainment.

Please check out our website www.millerandmike.com and our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/pages/Miller-Mike/167285603300440 to keep up on all the new awesomeness coming from Miller and Mike.

It is going to be an exciting time, hope you can all share in it with us.

WI Fair Convention

Mike and I are returning to the Wisconsin Fairs and Festival convention in Wisconsin Dells. This is always a good time and because Mike and I attended last year we were able to add lots of county fairs to the calendar last summer. So people all over Wisconsin could see us perform, as well as the first Miller & Mike show in Minnesota.

Also coming up, Mike and I will ring in the New Year at the YMCA in Manitowoc. Come check us out from 6p – 8p for shows and some strolling.

Santa is coming

Santa Claus is coming to town, Green Bay to be specific. Santa Claus

Come to one of the area libraries and join Santa for a very special story time. The jolly old elf will tell stories, sing songs and show kids of all ages some real Christmas magic.

St. Nick was up at the Marinette library last weekend. I took my little girl to see him and we had a great time. There were a lot of people having fun but I was able to take this picture.

You can catch Santa at the downtown branch on Saturday the 15th at 1:00pm or the Ashwaubenon library on Monday the 17th at 10:30am or finally at the southwest branch on Wednesday the 19th at 10:30am. Santa also has some personal stops to make before the big night. Santa is a close personal friend of Mike and I so to arrange a visit to your party call, E-mail or Facebook me.

One More Time!

Otis Miller, the world's longest usable yo-yo

Otis Miller will make yo-yo history, again.

Back in 2010 I established a new Guinness World Record with my little yo-yo when I threw it down 35 feet and 2 inches and it caught it making it the longest yo-yo ever used. Since then some punk in Chicago beat my record but I’m back to prove my yo-yo is the best, and don’t mean Mike.

Make your way up to Marinette this weekend for Heritage Fest. Mike and I will be doing shows all weekend but the 4pm show on Saturday will end with an attempt to brake the current record of 39 feet, 9 inches. Then the next day I’ll attempt to brake my own record at the 4pm show.

You can get the details on the Guinness page at MillerandMike.com and find info about the first record setting throw. Hope to see you there.

Amazing Clowns

Anyone who is a fan of The Amazing Race knows that clowns pop up every once in a while. The latest were Dave and Cherie. But only the most attentive fan can also tell you that Miller & Mike worked with Dave and Cherie on the Ringling show. I was sorry to see that they didn’t fare well with long division, but that’s the way it goes sometimes. Maybe Cherie should have tackled the math. Here is an old picture of her and I racing to solve the Rubik’s cube, something we did a lot at intermission. Remember, it’s not about who wins or loses, but I always won.

Once in our dressing room, clown alley, Dave thought he’d try a short cut to drying his socks in the microwave. One minute later he pulls his ruined sock out. Immediately I pulled out my camera and as I took this shot I said, “Now this is a moment of stupidity I want to remember.”

Better luck next time Dave and Cherie.

Packers Party

Several years ago when Mike and I where starting in Wisconsin we got the opportunity to perform at a Christmas party for the Green Bay Packers, which is very cool. It was a good party and a good show. Near the end I found myself doing yo-yo tricks for 2 children and their father who happen to be none other than Donald Driver. The kids where very impressed with the tricks and turned to their dad and asked in the very innocent way that kids do, “Daddy, can you do that?” Donald Driver laughed, shook his head and said, “No I can’t do that.” So I told him, “Don’t worry about it. You should see me play football, I stink.” Merry Christmas everyone!

Outlaw Circus?

Congressman Jim Moran (D-Virgina) introduced legislation that would make the transportation of animals illegal. It specifically targets circuses.

I’m not going to say animal abuse doesn’t exist, but I will say it’s the exception and not the norm. Didn’t prohibition teach us quite well that just because something can be misused doesn’t mean it should be banned. Not everyone likes circuses that have animals and that makes sense but the solution is to not buy tickets. For lots of people the circus is their only chance to touch an elephant and smell one too. The Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey circus is a 140 year old national treasure and it’s 750 jobs are worth protecting. It’s not a perfect organization but I owe them a debt of gratitude for my start in the business and a career I love. Follow the link, http://www.ringling.com/legislative and fill out the form to send a letter to congress and support the circus, I did.

Spooktacular Fun

Mike and I have been able to work with some big names, Ringling Bros Circus, Apple Vacations and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. But none make me as proud as when we get to work with the Green Bay Packers as happens from time to time. One of those times is this Saturday. Lambeau Field is hosting the 9th annual Spooktacular featuring a haunted concourse and entertainment from 10am – 4pm.

I’m not sure what is planned for this year but in years past there has been games, crafts and even a petting zoo. One thing I can be sure of is there will be lots to see and do. Come on out, have some fun and support the undefeated Packers.
